Hi, I’m Kelsey!

I am passionate about supporting women as they navigate the perinatal period - pregnancy, birth and postpartum. This is a period of transformation, where we may experience changes emotionally, physically, interpersonally, and, where my clinical focus is, in identity.

The experience surrounding pregnancy and birth, especially when one or both don’t go as planned, can increase feelings of distress, isolation, and overwhelm - adding challenge to an already intense life transition. The first years of becoming a mother involve a delicate interweaving of our past and present sense of self.

During this transition, I would be honored to work with you to find meaning surrounding hard emotions, find new ways of coping, and find empowerment in the face of change. If you experience trauma in the perinatal timeframe, you might have no idea where to turn. I have tools to help, and the experience to sit with you in this pain.

When I am nurturing my own well-being, I enjoy hanging with my husband and dogs (who are a unique breed called Silken Windhounds), practicing yoga, reading fantasy novels, cooking vegetarian meals and exploring interesting wines.

Education & Approach

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Minnesota. I earned both my Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Minnesota with a focus in Community Mental Health. I have 6+ years of experience providing individual and group psychotherapy at a group private practice. Additionally, I have a background in advocacy for survivors of assault, and have recently started supporting birthing people/families as a birth doula.

My therapeutic approach is person-centered, attachment-based and trauma-informed. I believe you are the best expert about you and in a safe, therapeutic relationship you have the space to explore what you need to feel better.

I have specific training in EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, perinatal mood disorders, and perinatal grief and loss. I am currently pursuing certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.
